本刊系衛(wèi)生部主管、中國(guó)醫(yī)學(xué)科學(xué)院&中國(guó)協(xié)和醫(yī)科大學(xué)主辦、國(guó)內(nèi)外公開(kāi)發(fā)行的高級(jí)綜合性醫(yī)學(xué)學(xué)術(shù)性期刊，1986年創(chuàng)刊。本刊旨在向國(guó)外介紹中國(guó)在醫(yī)學(xué)科學(xué)方面所取得的成果（包括基礎(chǔ)醫(yī)學(xué)及臨床醫(yī)學(xué))，以促進(jìn)國(guó)際間的學(xué)術(shù)交流。本刊設(shè)有述評(píng)、論著、綜述、短篇報(bào)道、研究簡(jiǎn)訊、會(huì)議報(bào)道等欄目。編委會(huì)由國(guó)內(nèi)著名的醫(yī)學(xué)研究所及大學(xué)的四十余名專家組成，另外尚有17名國(guó)際編委。本刊在國(guó)際國(guó)內(nèi)醫(yī)學(xué)界均享有一定聲譽(yù)，已被下列國(guó)內(nèi)外權(quán)威性檢索系統(tǒng)及其數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)收錄：美國(guó)生物醫(yī)學(xué)文獻(xiàn)聯(lián)機(jī)數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)（MEDLINE/PubMed)及其《醫(yī)學(xué)索引》（IM)；荷蘭《醫(yī)學(xué)文摘》（EMBASE)；美國(guó)生物學(xué)文摘數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)及其《生物學(xué)文摘》（BA)；美國(guó)化學(xué)文摘數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)及其《化學(xué)文摘》（CA)；俄羅斯《文摘雜志》（РЖ)；中國(guó)科學(xué)引文數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)；中國(guó)科技期刊論文與引文數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)；中國(guó)科技論文統(tǒng)計(jì)源期刊（中國(guó)科技核心期刊)；萬(wàn)方數(shù)據(jù)資源系統(tǒng)數(shù)字化期刊群；中國(guó)生物醫(yī)學(xué)文獻(xiàn)光盤數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)；中國(guó)學(xué)術(shù)期刊綜合評(píng)價(jià)數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)。
