Acta Cirúrgica Brasileira, founded by Prof. Saul Goldenberg in 1986 was published every three months until December 2001, 15 years maintaining this periodicity, and since 2002 published every two months. Since 2012 published monthly. It is the Official Journal of the Brazilian Society for the Development of Research in Surgery [Sociedade Brasileira para o Desenvolvimento da Pesquisa em Cirurgia-SOBRADPEC], a Federation of 23 branches in Brazil, being installed in this order: Triangulo Mineiro, Paraná, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Norte, Distrito Federal, Santa Catarina, Maranh?o, Pernambuco, S?o Paulo, Sul Mineira, Espírito Santo, Pará, Amazonas, Ribeir?o Preto, Centro Oeste, Ceará, Piauí, Alagoas, Goiás, Botucatú.
The journal has a Board of National Consultants and a Board of International Consultants.
It is the only continuously published journal in English language solely devoted to experimental surgery in Latin America. The Editorial Board considers only papers judged to offer significant contributions to surgical research. Manuscripts should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief of Acta Cirúrgica Brasileira:

Acta Cirúrgica Brasileira has joined a number of other leading medical journals that follows the "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical Publication" of the International Committee of Medical Journals Editors updated October 2007 (www.icmje.org)
Authors need to become familiar with the specific instructions to authors published by the journal. The journal publishes original papers on basic and applied research in surgery, mainly in experimental surgery, new surgical techniques, surgical education, advances in surgery and especial articles.
Case reports are not acceptable. Reviews only by invitation.
The journal publishes original papers on basic and applied research in surgery, new surgical techniques, reviews related to investigations in surgery, articles on surgical teaching, advances in surgery, short communications, concepts and observations. The abbreviated title of the journal is Acta Bras Cir, which should be used in footnotes and bibliographical references as well as in strips.
